What is OLASA?
OLASA is an organization whose mission
is to promote professional selling practices, provide education
and information to sellers, and to serve as a consortium of ideas,
experience and business practices.
Who are its members?
Members are online auction merchants and
sellers that practice good selling techniques, strive for outstanding
customer service, and are devoted to professional business practices.
How is OLASA governed?
OLASA governing body consists of a board
of directors and a board chairman. Board members are elected yearly,
and in turn elect the board chairman. Various committees provide
input along the lines of membership, education, professional advise,
and promotion.
Are these salaried positions?
No. All OLASA members serve on a voluntary
basis.
Who can join?
Interested sellers submit an application
for membership. The Membership Committee will ensure that applicants
meet and maintain certain conditions regarding selling, feedback,
and professionalism.
Are there any fees/dues?
No - however members are asked to make
a small donation to help defray the costs of our websites.
As a seller, what are the benefits
of membership?
Members receive help with auction listings
and other business related topics; they are listed on a main search
page for current auctions; they receive a "drop-in"
logo to use in their listings that links to OLASA info; they benefit
from the experience of many years of selling techniques; they
receive a member profile page listing on the OLASA site.
Are there any limits/restrictions
on what I sell?
No. Any seller who meets the requirements
for eBay, and other designated auction sites, is automatically
eligible for membership consideration.
What if I only sell a few items
here and there?
OLASA consists of sellers from every level
of selling activity. Though there is a minimum requirement for
participation, there is no requirement for the rate at which your
selling grows.
What are the requirements?
Members must meet and maintain certain
selling standards. Members must have been a seller for more than
6 months. (Also see "How to Qualify")
Who determines my membership status?
The Board Of Directors will have ultimate
authority over membership status (with input from members, and/or
membership committees).
As a buyer, what are the advantages
of purchasing from an OLASA member?
As with any professional organization,
OLASA enforces strict guidelines to insure consistent customer
service, and product satisfaction. As a self-governing and policing
association, it is in the best interest of all members to follow
the best selling practices and provide excellent customer service.
Does OLASA endorse a sellers product?
No. OLASA endorses its members as being
reputable sellers. OLASA does not endorse the product they sell.
If I purchase from an OLASA seller,
do I have any recourse if I am not satisfied?
OLASA encourages its members to provide
complete customer satisfaction and service. A seller who receives
multiple complaints from buyers will be considered for removal
from OLASA. OLASA cannot guarantee a seller's product or service,
but will investigate any reports it receives.
